This 12mm Japanese cutting tool is crafted with a laminated blade combining Hitachi white paper tool steel and high carbon steel, paired with a quality Japanese red oak handle featuring a rear iron hoop to prevent splitting.
Shirogami white paper steel is a high quality carbon tool steel that is ideally suited to the production of chisels, offering very high durability whilst also being able to take and hold the finest of edges, and exhibiting superior durability when compared to alloyed blue paper steels. For soft woods a bevel of 30 degrees will provide a good balance of performance and durability, while for hardwoods a bevel of 35 degrees provides the best edge durability. Made in Japan.
