Chestnut Products Food Safe Finish - 500ml

Keep your handmade chopping boards, fruit bowls and kitchen utensils protected without altering taste or trapping moisture. Wigley DIY stocks Chestnut Products Food Safe Finish in a 500ml bottle, providing a dependable clear oil finish specifically developed for any items that come into contact with food. This clear, food grade mineral oil uses a thin grade formula designed to soak deeply into bare timber. Once absorbed, it builds effective protection against water splashes while remaining entirely inert so it will never taint or affect food.

Tradespeople and woodturners will appreciate how easily this dries to a fairly matt finish. It is also ideal to use for wet sanding; combining it with a very fine abrasive lets you achieve an exceptionally smooth surface with its own gentle glow. Application is straightforward using a clean cloth or brush direct onto bare wood, with up to three coats recommended depending on absorption. If the oil sits on the surface and won't soak in, the timber has taken all it needs and any surplus can simply be wiped away with a clean cloth. Regular washing may require occasional top-up coats over time.
